A Brief Dispatch from Duluth

Hello all. Many of you might be wondering what is going on with me. Saturday has come and gone, but there was nary a word from me in your inbox. The answer to why is pretty straightforward actually. I am a chronic migraine sufferer. I take a monthly medication, and it works pretty well. I can go long stretches without a single migraine day. However, this Friday, I got hit with a migraine that has not left me yet. (If you’re keeping track, this is day four. It has shown no signs of abating either.)

While I can do more than I could before I started taking a long-term medication, doing the things that are necessary for this operation to work—mainly, listening to music , staring at a computer, and putting words in coherent sentences that can contain a small amount of creativity—is extremely challenging when I get migraines. Honestly, I had to figure out how to put my browser into dark mode so I could actually look at the screen long enough to type this because my eyes have decided to become light sensitive, which they weren’t earlier today.

Assuming I can break this migraine—or it at least lessens—I’m planning on merging the long article I had previously planned about The Wake’s Here Comes Everybody with The Spins for this week. Rather than it being new listens, it’ll be further listening for The Wake. You can see both where they came from and who they inspired. I still want to get out a piece about A.R. Kane, but again, my head will need to cooperate so I can plan a timeline.

I hope that everyone is having a good Memorial Day. It’s lovely here in Duluth. I hope it’s nice wherever you are.

Take care, A.C.
